Most people who contact me want to have a picture for a milestone in their family/child's life.. a newborn, 1st year cake smash, baptismal pics.. or maybe a holiday celebration - Easter, Christmas, etc..

Last December, however, I got an email from Kathy who wants to book a session of her and her 8 year old daughter. Not due to a birthday or a holiday... But as she said "... to remember this time before my chemo and before my physical being transforms.. hair loss, etc.."

Kathy lost her mom to breast cancer in 2008. He also lost his dad in November 2011 to colon cancer. She said that she is at WAR with Cancer and that she won't let it beat her! A woman full of strength! You can read her strength and positive attitude in her emails!

Thanks for allowing me to be part of your journey in fighting Cancer! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

I don't really advertise that I sell gift cards but after working on this session, I thought what a great gift to get a gift of memories! A friend (and client) of mine asked me early this year if I sell gift cards.. She said she's been looking to get a gift for a family friend but couldn't really think of anything to give them. Recipient called me last month to book the family session, and was happy to meet this beautiful(and busy) family of 5! While editing these I thought.. what a great gift to give and get.. Family "D", I hope I was able to capture the love and your 'life' in the fall of 2011! :)

What a gorgeous afternoon last Sunday.. And I almost can't believe there are still lots of "fall colours" captured in this session.. I thought for sure the leaves will be all gone.. I'm glad they are still around! Hoping for atleast another week of nice weather as I still have a few fall sessions left to do..

So, here they are... Mommy A and the girls! V is 8 and J is 13! V wanted people to guess where her shoes area.. She said for sure people won't be able to guess! :) I love her personality, such a sweet and funny girl! :)

I met Marisa a few years ago and she was what seemed like a little girl then... And now, she has grown into a beautiful lady! Marisa is a dancer and is very much into arts. She is in her senior year and what a better way to capture this special time in her life.. than a private photo session with her.. It's not your typical senior portrait with a curtain backdrop kinda session.. But a more personalized one where she was able to be herself.

I hope I was able to capture you well, Marisa! I had fun at our session!

I joined Tiny Light Foundation in the Spring and was happy to be matched with a family this fall. :) Tiny light Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides free professional photography for children and families that have been faced with a life altering diagnoses. The foundation's mission:

"Our mission is to provide and capture memories that will help provide a family with one less thing to worry about. In the mist of dealing with doctors appointments, specialist appointments or just the daily life of medicines, rushing here to there for weights, check ups, and the many many other things we deal with in everyday life. A lot of the time photographs seem to take a back burner and not only with time, but with funds. When we look back we want to remember and even though you may not forget what you and your child has gone through we always want more we need the memories to last "Forever".

I am blessed to be part of this great foundation and happy to volunteer my time and talents to families who are well deserving of this gift of photography.

So, this week.. I met EMILY! 90% of the time, when I meet with a family for the first time, the children often get shy and I just let them be. But when Emily's mom introduced her to me, she gave me the sweetest smile! :) Emily is a happy and beautiful 3.5 year old! :) She is also a very sweet big sister to Avery. Emily's favorite color is pink! :) She loves princess dress-ups and loves playing with her dolls! :)

When her mom was on her 20th week of pregnancy, she was diagnosed with a severe case of hydrocephalus and advised that it was best to terminate the pregnancy. The doctors knew there was something wrong but couldn't determine what exactly.

When Emily was born, she appeared healthy but at 2 years old she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She goes to physiotherapy every week and wears braces for her legs to help stretch her muscles and for proper alignment.

Emily is now in Kindergarten and enjoying it! Emily's middle name is HOPE! If Emily's parents didn't have Hope, Emily might have not been here today.

Rain Rain Go Away! | Milton Family Photographer

Mommy M here and I were really hoping for nice weather so we can do an outdoor shoot.. Up to the last minute, we were hoping the rain will stop so we can have our session at the original venue. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate. BUT, we were able to step out for 10 minutes to capture some family shots in the cute owl hats and boots that mom bought for the girls! :)

Well, I've been quiet during the summer months.. And now, glad to be back to 'shooting' babies! :) Love capturing these little ones! :) I really enjoyed capturing baby E! It's fun as she is very responsive and actually smiles when you try to make her smile! :) She is almost 8 week old and so alert and awake. She did give me a 5 minute snooze, just enough time to get a sleeping pose! :)

First thing I noticed is her beautiful spikey hair! :)

And look at those eyes.. :) So beautiful!

Assignment #2: Lifestyle Photography class {Milton Lifestyle Photographer}

I am taking Brooke Snow's Lifestyle Photography class and have been really enjoying it. I have been taking similar shots in the past when I'm with my children but didn't realized there was a label for it.. Lifestyle Photography! :) It's something I would love to offer my clients as it captures the moment more so than the typical "portrait" type shots with backdrops and all... Don't get me wrong, I love that as well and will continue to use my backdrops and all... But after my 2nd week in Brooke's class, I know that Lifestyle photography is what I'd like to be doing more of.. My goal now is to find a happy medium between the traditional "portrait" shots and this so called lifestyle photography. :)

Had tons of fun this morning shooting Miss A! :) What a sweet sweet girl. She says "OK" in the sweetest tiny voice! :) But don't get her upset because she'll definitely let you know when she is! :)

It has been a pleasure to be part of baby L's 1st year. Come to think of it, I knew about him even when he was still several months inside mommy's belly. :) Mommy G found an ad I posted online when I was just starting my photography business last year. So glad she found me because I've had lots of fun seeing baby L grow! :)

I was excited to meet Baby K! Her mom is my daughter's pre-school teacher :) Baby girl K is a week old! She is so sweet and have a big brother! A million dollar family :)

I really love my job and glad that it allows me to get my baby fix while I work with beautiful newborns. If I didn't get my regular baby fix, I'd probably have more than 2 kids! :)

We easily get busy with work and other things that we sometimes forget the most important things/people in our life. I try my best not to, but know that at times when I am trying to beat a deadline or as I try to finish up on my editing on the computer.. My children always gets the "Give me a minute, mommy's busy" response!

So this summer, I decided to spend lots of quality time with my kids! Trying to take a break from my work by not taking too much clients. Instead, I plan to spend time photographing my favorite little people, my children! :) When they go to school in the fall, I will have more time with work. But in the meantime, enjoying the summer with them!

This set here was taken after school ended for her late June.. We went to Scribble n' Splatter here in Milton. It's an expressive play studio for children. They had different tables set up for different projects from making paper watermelon to paper flip-flops to beaded jewelry! :) They also have a dress-up / reading / play area. It is such a fun place and the best part is that you don't have to clean up the mess.. :)

After art class, we went for lunch at Sushi-Ya Japan. Yup you guessed it right, it's a Japanese restaurant! :) It's a restaurant we've never tried. How special is that? Just mommy and Iz. She looks so grown up here eating.. Oh and just ignore my huge Bento box at the bottom! LOL

And what better way to end our day? Mini-spa! :) Unfortunately for me, it was just for her! :) What a neat place called Sharkey's Cuts for Kids.

Well, the highlight for her was those purple-sparkly nailpolish!! :) I never really use any nailpolish on her other than the water-based, non-toxic, odorless Piggy Paint. So this was a first for her!

5 day old Baby B | Milton Newborn Photographer

I already said it a lot of times but have to say it again that my most favorite of all sessions are newborn sessions. :) Yesterday was a first because due to babysitting issues, I had to do the session with my 2 little ones in the house! I thought, it shouldn't be a big deal.. I can schedule the session during naptime and put the kids down for their nap.. :) Well, it didn't work out the way I planned. Thanks M&V for being so understanding and for baby B's grandma for entertaining my 2 year old! :)

So, the first thing that I noticed with baby B when I saw him was his beautiful hair. It almost looks as if mommy was already styling his hair at 5 days old! :) :)

Often I go to client homes to do the shoot but I am hoping to do more at our home. Today, baby A with mom and grandma came to me for A's shoot. :) Super sweet 17 days new - A! :) She has the most beautiful eyes and she loves to show them off! :) We definitely got lots of awake shots! :)

This Tuesday was a big day for me. It was my baby's (my 2 year old son) first day at daycare! It was bittersweet but my heart tells me he is ready. Now, if he will only eat the lunch provided at daycare, then I'll feel better. It seems that he refuses to eat his lunch! :( Good thing he eats fruit, just not the main course. The teachers there promised me that he'll get used to it sooner than later. :)

What to do while he's at daycare? I can give you a list! :) But that day.. I met 26 day old twins J and W! :) Sweet boys! I always say that newborn photography is my favorite of all! It is so much fun to work with a newborn. So sweet and often I find myself smiling as I watch their facial expressions. Technically, the twins are no longer newborns.. But they were still sleepy enough for me to take these pictures.. :)

One of my BFF's got married this month. I had the privilege to be the 2nd photographer for the wedding. It was such a different experience. :) With newborns, I can position them where I want them to be and 90% of the time, they stay in one spot. With weddings, you have to go around the subject.. aim for the shot and while doing that make sure as well that you are not in the frame of the other photographer. It was quite a workout! And to think I wasn't the main photographer.. Needless to say, this will probably be my last.. Unless it's another friend getting married (or remarried).. or I get offered a ridiculous amount of photographer fees! LOL..

I have been quiet lately as I seem to have a hard time finding enough hours in a day! :( This past month, I have been busy with family matters. Last week, I had a wonderful opportunity to mentor with Keri Meyers in Duvall, WA. Yes, I flew from Toronto to Seattle.. by myself! :) The only baby I travelled with was my camera! :) It was such a different way to travel! I flew a lot with my kids due to my husband's work in the past and it wasn't fun at all! You have to bring a lot of things to keep them occupied.. So, it was such a treat to travel light. :) And thanks to my wonderful husband, I even travelled first class from Chicago to Seattle (and back).. And WOW! What a huge difference.. Breakable plates, cloth napkins, great food and they even gave me ice cream and warm cookies!(as if it was fresh from the oven! woohoo!) :) I got to Seattle on a Sunday afternoon and did a bit of sightseeing downtown. The following day, I had the session with Keri where she had a 5 day old model. I flew back to Toronto that night and landed in Toronto at 6am on zombie-mode! It was so worth it though! I learned a lot and now eager to book lots of newborns so I can apply everything I learned! :)

Below are the pictures I took during our session with a gorgeous 5 day old boy named Moses. He has the most perfect head and features.. :)

I have been quiet for awhile as I've been busy with other things. But I promise you'll see more of me soon! :) There's different things on the works and I'm looking forward to being able to take on more sessions in the coming months!

My favorite of all sessions is probably my newborn sessions. This is immediately followed by baby's 1st year and cake smashing session! It's so much fun and I think all kids deserve to have their 1st year session done!! Here is beautiful Baby K.. It is so nice to see her again.. since our 5 month/baptism session more than half a year ago! Time sure flies! :)

I went for a 2+ week vacation to the Philippines with my family and just got back this weekend! Talk about Jetlag.. my 2 wee kids got major jetlag! They have interchanged 2am and 2pm. They wake up at 2am wanting to play and eat... and by 2pm they want to go to bed! :) I took lots of pictures while I was there but no newborns! So, I was excited today to meet my first newborn for 2011! :) Incidentally, he was born on the first day of this year! :) He was a bit early but everybody was excited about his arrival, including Auntie L who booked the session when he was probably just 3 months old inside mommy's belly! :)

Little Miss A here came last week! :) What a beautiful gift to family C! I love doing a Maternity/Newborn sessions because it's nice to work with the family before and after baby is born. I think having that relationship with the parents give me a bit of an advantage since I know the family already and there is no need to break the ice, so to speak.. :)

I had a fun time with this family of 3! :) It was funny that three adults were actually working around our "boss" for the shoot.. Who else? But the almost 3 yo A! :) It's nice to see him so sweet with both Mommy and Daddy. :)

We were supposed to have the session at a nearby park. But with the temperature at low of -1C, we had to do it indoors! However, it was snowing outside and it was beautiful (I can't believe I said that) :) We are Canadians after all, so why not add some snow in the pics.. :)

This beautiful baby girl is Kaitlyn. She is 4 months old and a very happy girl! :) She loves to chat and smiles a lot. But when she sees the camera, she stares at the lens and my camera strap! :) She is such a cutie and it was a pleasure to meet her and her mom today.

I first read about Kaitlyn at an article in the local paper. Kaitlyn was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis several weeks after she was born. A lot of people are not aware what Cystic Fibrosis is, yet..

Did you know that?
- one in every 3,600 children born in Canada has cystic fibrosis
- 60% of people with cystic fibrosis are diagnosed in the first year of life, and 90% by age 10
- 3,600 children, adolescents and adults attend specialized cystic fibrosis clinics
- one in 25 Canadians carries a defective version of the gene responsible for cystic fibrosis
- more than 50% of people with CF carry two copies of the most common cystic fibrosis mutation, ΔF508
- more than 85% of all people with cystic fibrosis carry at least one copy of ΔF508
- there are over 1,700 mutations in the gene responsible for CF
- in the 1960s, most children with cystic fibrosis did not live long enough to attend kindergarten
- today, half of all Canadians with cystic fibrosis are expected to live into their 40s and beyond
- the number of Canadian adults with cystic fibrosis (aged 18+) surpasses the number of children with CF

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common, fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. There is no cure for cystic fibrosis. CF is a multi-organ disease, primarily affecting the lungs and digestive system. A build-up of thick mucus in the lungs causes severe breathing problems. It may be difficult to clear bacteria from the lungs, leading to cycles of infection and inflammation, which damage the delicate lung tissues.

Thick mucus also blocks the ducts of the pancreas, preventing enzymes from reaching the intestines to digest food. People with CF must consume a large amount of artificial enzymes (average 20 pills a day) with every meal and snack, to help digest and absorb adequate nutrition from food.

I met Steph almost 4 years ago or so when I was looking for baby carriers! :) I wore my daughter A LOT so capturing Steph and her daughter brings some good memories.. :) Steph has an online store called BabywearBoutique located in Halton!

I have gotten a lot of comments in the past while wearing my daughter.. "Oh, she'll be spoiled!" or "She'll be super clingy" etc.. etc... On the contrary, one of the benefits of babywearing is that it helps raise confident children. Being in a carrier, close to mommy gives them all the comfort and assurance that they need when they are young. So, they actually grow up to be confident in life. Just ask my UN-shy 4 year old! LOL..

I've never heard of the phrase "million dollar family" until I had my children. I have a daughter followed by my son. Apparently, when a couple have one boy and one girl; it is supposedly a happy & perfect family. Thus called a 'million dollar family'. :)

This morning, I had a session in Brampton! I was greeted by a Mommy D and baby A's warm smiles! Baby A has big beautiful eyes and she is such a sweetheart! She gave me lots of smiles within our first couple of minutes together! Thank you also for the hospitality Mommy D and Zia! :) I enjoyed watching the food networking while waiting for our princess to wake up from her nap! :) {oh yeah, and the apple pie!} ;)

The session often begins with a walkthrough of the home to determine where I will setup. Then, I present to mom all my props and see what she wants to use. At this time, I will know mom's style and we build up our poses from there.. Often, girl's sessions are pinks and such.. but this one is quite neutral and I love the way they turned out. I hope Mom agrees! :)

Here are some pics. I know that Daddy was not happy to miss the session so I thought I'd post some pics before I end the day, for him to see.

It was a nice Sunday morning, but they called for rain in Toronto in the afternoon. We started our shoot in the backyard. It drizzled a little, so we went inside to snap a few pics. The rain stopped, so, we went out again and was able to finish our shoot! I got in my car, drove.. and 5 minutes later, the rain poured! Probably the worst rain I've ever driven in!

We got pretty lucky that the rain let us finish our session! Speaking of lucky, this baby boy due in 4 weeks is such a lucky baby to have such sweet parents. I can actually feel the love between the two parents-to-be! Thank you for letting me capture this special time in your life!

While I was away at the beach last weekend, I received an email from S that the twins have arrived! :) I was so excited for today's photoshoot that I backed out of the garage with my trunk open! Ugggg.. Now, my trunk won't shut! :( Thanks to my dependable husband who will lend me his truck tomorrow as I have another newborn shoot at 10! :) Oh, and have I thanked my MIL (and FIL) enough for babysitting my kids? :) Thanks!! :)

So, here's some pictures from the shoot.. The twins, Baby L and Baby E are 12 days old! So sweet and cuddly, specially after mom have fed them! :) They are identical twins! :) There are slight differences but it's hard to differentiate one from the other!

I love my job! :) Baby L is 9 days old and is such a great baby. He slept most of the time, so Mommy and I had a blast! :) Mommy was such a great help, and daddy had a workout doing some of the poses.. :)

You'll recognize mommy G & daddy S from my previous post during their maternity session. Such a sweet couple and now bonded by baby L! :) Here are some pics! :)

This photoshoot topped the FUN list. This couple are both crazy and fun! :) I've been emailing with J for months now and finally I meet her and her husband last night! Well, let me tell you.. email cannot capture the personality of a person. She is so funny and she loves to make goofy faces.. :) And her husband C, well.. he's another story! :)

I was worried about the rain, but the rain actually waited for us to finish before it started pouring! :)

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to take pics of a special family. Baby A is 4 months old and you can see from the pics how much Mommy A and Daddy B loves her. She is so precious and have the most beautiful big bright eyes!

So, we got rained out during our previous session. A couple of weeks later, we got the perfect weather! :) Yay! It was a lot of fun capturing this happy family! Both boys are awesome posers :) I love that N actually likes to get his picture taken! :) And the stepping on the rock shot was totally his idea! :)

I have done 7 newborn shoots in June and guess what?? They were all boys!!

Baby A is my 8th newborn.. and what a nice way to end June.. with a girl! :) Sweet, sweet A is 4 months old, so (technically) not a newborn. But, she is such a special baby! When she was born, she weighed just a pound or so. She is 9+ lbs now and has done so well! She's a good sleeper too! :) I was able to capture some sleeping shots! :) :)

Mommy S is due in a few weeks! They are having either identical twin boys or twin girls! :) Did you know that identical twins are do not run in families? Yes, there is no hereditary trait that influences the predisposition of having identical twins! :)
